Big Lake Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development

 

Living in a small community with friendly people and hometown values has it's advantages. Within these pages, you will find information about various aspects of of our community.

Are we experiencing growth? YES! The oil and gas industry is booming! Big Lake sits in between two of the biggest new oil and gas plays in the country: the Cline Shale and the Wolfcamp Shale. Big Lake is thriving with four established motels: The Derrick Inn, Mustang Motel, Big Lake Inn & Suites, and The Lone Star Lodge. Cobblestone Hotel is under construction and will be opensoon. A Best Western Hotel is on the horizon. 

Big Lake has numberous community services, including a 21st. century, technology-based school system and the first-rate Reagan Memorial Hospital District, which includes emergency care, a pharmacy and care center. Security Bank and Big Lake Bank are avaliable to help with your banking needs. The Industrial Park east of town has grown from two companies in 2009 to 20 and continues to expand.

As you drive along Highway 67, which goes right through downtown, you'll find several restau rants, many of which are new. There's a bakery, a doughnut shop, a supermarket, gift shops, dry good stores, an antique shop, auto supplies and sales, a thrift shop and convenience stores. Pilot Flying J Truck Shop is scheduled to open sometime in May or early June 2014.

You can visit the Hickman Museum, which features memorabilia on Big Lake and Texon ,play a round of nine-hole golf on our Big Lake Municipal Golf Course or check out the popular Mudhouse Candle Company.
